Product Description
The year 1964 was notable for many reasons: Yogi Berra became Manager of the Yankees; LBJ defeated Goldwater for the Presidency of the USA, and, on February 14 of that year, Waldren “Frog” Joseph made the transition from jazz band sideman to leader.
This is the recording of that memorable night in which the brilliant trombone talent of Waldren Joseph was brought to the fore. Included are a few rare gems like Slide, Frog, Slide and Lassus Trombone, and there is also a brand new item, Dixieland Hall Blues, composed for this session by the great trumpeter-composer, Joshua Willis, who switches from trumpet to mellophone in this terrifically fine first performance.
The Music: 1. Wolverine Blues ~ 2. Lassus Trombone ~ 3. Wabash Blues ~ 4. Hindustan ~ 5. Slide, Frog, Slide ~ 6. Dixieland Hall Blues* ~ 7. Over the Waves ~ 8. Dill Pickles ~ 9. Walk Through the Streets of the City
* Original composition First Performance
